Cannabis

Consequences: short-term memory

The brain contains even more receptors to which anandamide and THC can bind. They are located at specific points in the brain, and can thus explain someĀ of the typical effects of cannabis.

Most such receptors are found in the hippocampus, the hypothalamus, the cerebellum and the basal ganglia.

The hippocampus is vital to short-term memory. When THC binds to the cannabinoid receptors there, that interferes with memory function. You find it harder to store recent events in your memory.
