Cocaine has a similar effect on the noradrenalin (norepinephrine) transporter. Cocaine binds on the noradrenalin transporter so the noradrenalin can’t be pumped back. It stays active in the synaptic cleft and collides with the receptors.

As a result you become active and alert and your heart rate and blood pressure go up.
